Searching
Ecclesiastes
1:12-14
2 I, the Teacher was king over
Israel in Jerusalem. 13 I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom
all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men!
14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them
are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Searching is a life long quest
to satisfy various desires. These desires can be anything from love, material
things, money, peace, quiet, relationships, acceptance, companionship,
discoveries, etc. In this sinful world we also search for disharmony, greed,
lust, turmoil, etc.
Searching usually leads to
finding which generally repeats itself many times for different searches.
Somewhere in life's journey we are faced with the fact that all this
searching or running after things are meaningless, especially when we are
close to seeing the end of our life on this earth.
This is where our search becomes
most frustrating because we look for the meaning of life and the purpose
of our existence on this life. Whether we turn inward to search our own
knowledge and experience or turn outwards to use spiritists, mediums, occult,
social groups, books, etc. we often turn up empty.
Solomon came to a similar conclusion
of a sense of meaningless to everything on this earth . He did everything
there was to do. He had an unlimited amount of money so he continued to
max out his experience in everything. Ecclesiastes
1
In the end the man Solomon,
who's wisdom was respected by the heads of state of many countries, concluded
a meaningless to this earthly existence. Ecclesiastes
12:8
But he did not turn up empty.
Everything was meaningless except for one thing.
Ecclesiastes
12:13-14
There is only one thing that
has meaning in this life, fear God and keep his commandments. This leads
to the heart of the Bible, Jesus Christ and His love. When we search for
Jesus and find Him, our search will truly be over. Jesus Christ, more precious
than gold offers us eternal life to live with him forever in an everlasting
peace.
All earthly things will fade,
rust or rot but the word of God through Jesus Christ will last forever,
more precious than gold.
Has your search come to a point
of frustration, search no more but look to Jesus Christ through the Holy
Word of God.
Jesus says: He who comes to
me I will in no way turn away.
Come to me all who are weary
and burdened and I will give your rest.
All this is free through grace,
the unmerited favour from Jesus Christ, the only Son of God who has set
man free from sin and death by His death on the cross of Calvary.
He is waiting for you to turn
your eyes from your meaningless search to turn your eyes to Him.
Jesus alone can bring meaning
to your life here on this earth and in life after death.
Praise The Lord, for He is
great and greatly to be praised.
